We are pleased to announce that the Canadian Concrete Masonry Producers Association (CCMPA) and the Canada Masonry Design Centre (CMDC) have partnered to create the Canadian Masonry Research Council (CMRC). This strategic directive by CMDC and CCMPA to consolidate their individual research activities into a collaborative partnership will create a single point of contact for masonry research. The CMRC will simplify the proposal process for Canadian researchers and linking their work with the industry’s aspirations, increasing the likelihood of successful commercialization of their new innovations and discoveries.

The Canadian Masonry Research Council will monitor all masonry research being supported by CCMPA and CMDC. As the single point of contact, the Canadian Masonry Research Council will improve communication between the masonry industry and Canadian researchers to facilitate greater inter-disciplinary and inter-institutional collaboration between research programs. CMRC will evaluate current and future research projects and prioritize to those that can demonstrate the potential for successful commercialization of their new innovations and discoveries through changes to the relevant building codes, standards, new products and technologies or construction practices.

In continuation of masonry’s long history of research that has created this premier building system, the Canadian Masonry Research Council, through it’s partners, the CMDC and CCPMA, will ensure a sustainable and competitive future of masonry buildings, based on sound quantifiable research data.
